Kellstadt Finance Community is the first official group that serves specifically master-level finance students at DePaul University - Kellstadt Graduate School of Business, including students in MS in Finance, MS in Computational Finance and MBAs with a concentration in Finance. KFC aims to provide a better platform for Finance students and to create a community atmosphere for students to get exposure to the real finance world and share valuable information. A Letter to New Members

My name is Xiran Chen also known as Joyce for those who cannot pronounce Xiran correctly (No offence :-), President and Founder of Kellstadt Finance Community, which is also known as Kentucky Fried Chicken (Come on, that was A joke, you guys don’t laugh?!)  Fine…  KFC for short of course, if that will help you to remember.

Okay, first, let me tell you who we are.  Kellstadt Finance Community, founded by some board members and me early this year, is the first and the ONLY group that serves specifically master-level finance students at DePaul.  KFC aims to create a community atmosphere for students to share valuable information through an online group, educational seminars and networking events.  I am sure you have already heard about the importance of network in the U.S.  I understand most of you are new to this country, you don’t have a network here, you don’t know how to build up one.  No worries, join us, and WE ARE GONNA BE YOUR NETWORK.

What we do basically is to pack you up for sale.  I notice that a lot of you are from China.  So am I.  I remember, two years ago, the first time I came to DePaul right after college, all I knew was that finance students could work in the ICBC (ai cun bu cun) one of the biggest commercial banks in China.  I didn’t know about equity research, no idea about the difference between wealth management and asset management, not to mention where to start an internship, how to do networking, and more.  I don’t want the same thing happen to you, so I am gonna utilize all kind of resources I could find to shorten the distance between you rookies and professionals.  Trust me, I wanna know your specific needs, I care a lot about your career just like I care about myself’s.

You may wonder what the difference is between us and other finance associations at school.  Those are also good ones, just they don’t serve SPECIFICLLY students like you.  For KFC, we focus on JUST finance students, JUST master-level finance students, which would give us more energy and time to find out solutions to your questions.  We are advised by two of the most prestige finance professors, supported by the whole finance department and all DePaul alumni.   We have an extremely responsible management team, dedicated to building a bridge between you and the real finance world. 

Getting you what you want is our basic goal.

Now listen carefully, who should join us? The question should really be: who wants an internship? Who wants advice from fellow students and successful alumni? Who wants to know big important people outside school that may help your career?  Because we have events with those people every month, take lucky birds to dinner with them, we post exclusive job/internship opportunities frequently and create career strategies for individuals.  So why wait? Join us today by completing an application form, putting down 30 bucks upfront fee, then, enjoy the whole following academic year events.  Fine, I’ll give you a little hint.
